IOFAS hosts an annual Difficult Case Conference, where Foot & Ankle surgeons from North and South meet to discuss their most challenging cases and to share ideas and learn from each other.  It is an up-front meeting, attended by the majority of consultants in the country, to help and advise each other on our more difficult cases. 

This was the first year we invited an external guest and it proved very beneficial and enjoyable to have a perspective from the UK. Matt Solan had many excellent suggestions and certainly our patients benefitted from having multiple surgeons focus on their problem.

As secretary of IOFAS, I am now planning our annual meeting in Belfast, where Mr Lew Schon from Baltimore will be our guest speaker.
