The Irish Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society held our annual scientific conference this weekend. This is a great opportunity to meet friends, discuss difficult cases and up-date each other on the current concepts in Foot & Ankle surgery. The invited lecturer was Dr. Wenz from Heidelberg, who specialises in complex foot deformity correction. I gave a lecture on Iatrogenic Hallux Varus and we tried a new approach of most of the surgeons preparing short lectures. We also had a combined session with physiotherapists with an interest in Foot and Ankle - to discuss Achilles tendonopathy, which proved very informative and useful. Likewise there were some excellent research papers by the Orthopaedic trainees.
