Many excellent lectures were given by some of the most prominent Irish, British and American surgeons.  All aspects of Total Hip Replacement were discussed. My lecture topic was "The Seven Deadly Sins of Total Hip Arthroplasty" - an interesting and challenging title.

The American ambassador Kevin O'Malley present Dr Peter Sharkey with an Irish American lifetime achievement award to acknowledge his massive contribution to hip replacement surgery and also to teaching - it was certainly a night to remember. Needless to say, the social aspect of the meeting was also most enjoyable - meeting great friends like Mr David Mulcahy from Cork and the President of the Irish Orthopaedic Association, Mr Gerry McCoy.
