Hip Replacement – the 7 deadly sins

The conference was very well attended by both consultant colleagues and trainees. The guests of honour were two senior surgeons from Hanoi, Vietnam who work in Hospital 108, the site of Operation Walk Ireland’s charity work.

I focused on the importance of pre-operative planning, patient positioning, acetabular component insertion, knowing your implants and exposures, leg length discrepancy and managing complications. All in all it was an excellent meeting – both educationally and socially. It remains the strongest arthroplasty meeting on the island of Ireland.

The picture is myself with Gerry McCoy, Derek Bennett and the honoured guests.
